The special Ornamental telegram delivery form for Social Greetings - first issued in 1936 - was a very new concept to telegraphic communication. Social Telegrams were meant to cover a wide range of social events as well as special times such as embarking on a holiday on a luxury ship.
To ensure the public was aware of the types of use for this novel new telegram form, the P.M.G. Department developed a widely implemented publicity program. Three explicit advertisements plus two more subtle advertisements were published in various newspapers and magazines to promote the Social Telegram. These are depicted below.
